Hello everyone! My name is Samantha Warring, but most people call me Sam. I am a senior history major at the University of Mary Washington. I recently completed my senior thesis: “Into the Wild Blue Yonder: The Advocacy of General Billy Mitchell for an Independent Air Force.” I will graduate from Mary Washington in May 2012.
Let me tell you a little about myself. I am a fun, outgoing, friendly person. I love spending time with my family and friends because personal relationships are very important to me. I believe that hard work and perseverance are essential to success in any endeavor. As a history major I will graduate with more than a diploma. I leave the college sphere with a curious but skeptical outlook towards the world, and am also equipped with strong skills in researching, analyzing, and writing.
My college experience involves much more than strong friendships and academics. I have a deep love for sports and fitness and was able to incorporate both into my years at UMW. From my freshman year to the end of my junior year, I was a student athletic trainer, working with our varsity sports teams. I was the student trainer for Baseball and Women’s Basketball for three years, and Women’s Soccer and Field Hockey each for one year. This experience helped develop my strong communication skills and gave me an insight into NCAA athletics.
Fitness is something that is very important to me. I have played numerous sports over the years both competitively and for recreation. Basketball and baseball are my two favorite sports. (I am a die-hard Boston Red Sox fan.) In the summer of 2011 I worked out with a personal trainer and I realized how important a good fitness routine is for all aspects of your life. I have remained active during all of my years at UMW through the exceptional fitness facilities and campus recreation department.
A few of my other hobbies include piano (I took lessons for 8 years), traveling, reading, watching crime dramas, and enjoying life with my friends and family.
After graduation I plan to continue my internship at the Arlington County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office, with the hopes of finding a permanent position in which I can be surrounded by courts or judicial services. I am considering the possibility of attending law school down the road as well because I enjoy learning about how the law works and how it is applied to everyday life. I hope you have learned a little bit about who I am and that you browse the remainder of my site to learn even more!
